They dreamed of a child, and one day the husband brought a piece of wood from the forest, which, after a little work, very much resembled a baby. Bozena tied herself to a block of wood and called it her child. Soon the soulless log began to show signs of life and - more and more - begged for food. To the dismay of the named parents, the voracious piece of wood destroyed everything in its path. The folk tale on which the plot is based is a symbiosis of "Kolobok" and "Frankenstein". In Jan Švankmajer's film adaptation, the story is a harsh satire on modern society. The heroes of the film do not fit into the overall picture of the well-being of imposed orders and norms.
