On the train, George meets Hilly Burns, who is accompanying the famous art critic Professor Schneider. A light flirtation occurs between Caldwell and the girl, prompting Hilly to tell her new acquaintance that her boss is suspected of fraud involving fake works of art. That evening, George witnesses the crime and sees the professor's body being thrown from the train. Now the unfortunate publisher becomes a witness whose elimination is in the interest of the murderers.
